Cabinet decides to suspend approval for limited vehicle imports

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (24) decided to suspend the important of limited vehicle consignments with immediate effect.

The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, his office said late on Monday adding the cabinet had made it clear that vehicle imports need to be restricted further giving due consideration to the present state of the country and the state's financial stability.

Earlier, Cabinet had granted approval to import limited number of vehicles, however, following Monday's decision the

approval

 for limited imports was revoked.
