Second Sputnik jab to be administered in next two weeks

COLOMBO (News1st): 15,000 recipients of the first dose of the Sputnik vaccine in the Colombo district, will be able to receive their second dose in the next two weeks, when 65,000 jabs are imported to the country. 50,000 jabs will be used to vaccinate residents in the Kandy district, officials said. Sri Lanka will receive 500,000 doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, and will use the stocks to administer the second dose among 595,000 individuals who received the first jab. Meanwhile, a portion of Sinopharm vaccines will be allocated for the Gampaha and Kalutara districts. The remaining jabs will be allocated for the Kurunegala, Ratnapura, and Galle districts.
