COLOMBO (News 1st): Steps will be taken to establish a Call Centre to expedite the treatment for COVID-19 patients, the State Ministry of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control said on Thursday (May 13). "Based on PCR reports, steps will be taken to provide the required information to the infected patients through the Call Center. Accordingly, the relevant instructions will be provided to the patients by doctors via the call centre, starting from next week," Dr. Sudharshani Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control told News 1st. Commenting on the treatment of COVID-19 patients, State Minister Dr. Fernandopulle noted that there was a small delay in locating hospitals for patients. "Priority will be given to those aged above 60, those with complications and other diseases, and those who are residing in high-risk areas, given that the capacity of hospital beds is limited," she pointed out. According to State Minister Fernandopulle, there are around 600 to 700 beds and as a result, when allocating hospitals for patients, a priority-based admission method will be followed.
