185,000 Sputnik-V jabs to Sri Lanka in coming weeks: SPC

COLOMBO (News 1st): A consignment of 185,000 Sputnik-V COVID-19 jabs manufactured in Russia will be delivered to Sri Lanka within the next two weeks, the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) said on Thursday (May 13).

The consignment of vaccines is expected to reach the island within the next 20 to 25 days, Dinusha Dasanayake, the General Manager of State Pharmaceutical Corporation told News 1st.

Sri Lanka has already received 15,000 doses of the Sputnik-V jab and it was administered to the people in the past few days.

According to Dinusha Dasanayake, agreements are being reached with China to purchase more doses of the Sinopharm Vaccine.

Discussions were also held with several countries including Belgium, regarding the importation of AstraZeneca vaccines, Dasanayake further noted.
