COLOMBO (News1st): A decision was reached to impose an island-wide travel restriction from 11:00 PM to 4:00 AM daily, with effect from Wednesday (May 12), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva confirmed to News 1st.
The new travel restriction will be in effect until the 31st of May 2021, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) told News 1st on Wednesday (May 12).
People are required to remain at home or at their respective locations, during the period from 11:00 PM to 4:00 AM daily, General Shavendra Silva emphasized.
According to the Army Commander, the provision of essential services such as the transportation of food and other goods will NOT be affected by the new travel restriction.
