COLOMBO (News 1st); The Director General of Health Services on Tuesday (11) confirmed 23 deaths that occurred from 05th to 11th May, due to Covid-19 virus infection. Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 850.

1. The deceased is an 84 year old female resident in Rathmalana. She died on 08.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in a private Hospital in Colombo. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

2. The deceased is a 61 year old male resident in Polonnaruwa. He died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Welikanda Treatment Centre. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

3. The deceased is a 70 year old female resident in Pilimathalawa. She died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Peradeniya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

4. The deceased is a 79 year old male resident in Pathana. He died on 08.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Nuwara Eliya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection.

5. The deceased is a 57 year old male resident in Thalawakele. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Lindula Divisional Hospital and transferred to District General Hospital Nuwara Eliya where he died on 11.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid 19 pneumonia and Diabetes.

6. The deceased is a 76 year old female resident in Halgranoya. She died on 09.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Nuwara Eliya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

7. The deceased is a 77 year old female resident in Mathale. She died on 07.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Mathale. The cause of death is mentioned as Chronic liver disease, Covid infection, and Sepsis.

8. The deceased is an 85 year old female resident in Mathale. She died on 10.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Mathale. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

9. The deceased is an 82 year old female resident in Elkaduwa. She died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Mathale. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

10. The deceased is a 57 year old female resident in Madulkele. She died on 06.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Divisional Hospital Madulkele. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and heart disease.

11. The deceased is a 64 year old male resident in Madulkele. He died on 07.05.2021 on admission to Divisional Hospital Madulkele. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection and Diabetes.

12. The deceased is a 63 year old male resident in Mathale. He died on 10.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Mathale. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and acute heart disease.

13. The deceased is a 58 year old male resident in Menikhinna. He died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in National Hospital Kandy. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

14. The deceased is a 77 year old male resident in Mathara. He died on 09.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and a cancer.

15. The deceased is a 76 year old male resident in Thalgaswala. He was transferred from District Hospital Karandeniya to the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya where he died on 09.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

16. The deceased is a 65 year old male resident in Polonnaruwa. He died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Welikanda Special Treatment Centre. The cause of death is mentioned as acute Covid pneumonia.

17. The deceased is a 46 year old male resident in Moronthuduwa. He died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in General Hospital Kaluthara. The cause of death is mentioned as Multi Organ dysfunction due to Covid pneumonia and acute heart disease.

18. The deceased is a 49 year old male resident in Maharagama. He died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Base Hospital Homagama. The cause of death is mentioned as Acute Covid pneumonia.

19. The deceased is a 77 year old male resident in Halthota. He died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Base Hospital Horana. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Chronic Lung Disease.

20. The deceased is an 80 year old male resident in Waskaduwa. He was transferred from District Hospital Kaluthara to the Base Hospital Mulleriyawa where he died on 05.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Heart disease.

21. The deceased is an 80 year old male resident in Kelaniya. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from a private Hospital in Colombo to Base Hospital Mulleriyawa where he died on 07.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Acute kidney injury.

22. The deceased is a 70 year old male resident in Moratuwa. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from Base Hospital Chilaw to the Base Hospital Mulleriyawa where he died on 09.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

23. The deceased is a 57 year old female resident in Panadura. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus and transferred from Panadura Hospital to Base Hospital Mulleriyawa where she died on 10.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Asthma.
