COLOMBO (News1st): Traders have denied requesting authorities to release the isolation restrictions in Piliyandala after minister Gamini Lokuge made claims to that effect recently.
"We feel that the relevant action must be taken considering the problems faced in the country," U.K.P. Perera, the chairman of the Piliyandala Traders Union said.
He pointed out that traders have no opportunity to exert pressure on the health sector.
Minister Lokuge had claimed that the isolation status in Piliyandala was lifted as restrictions have not been reported.
However, former parliamentarian Lakshman Nipunaarachchi pointed out that infections are being detected in Piliyandala even at present.
"...the politicians must set aside their stubborn qualities and allow the health officials to make the relevant decisions," Nipunaarachchi insisted.
