COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Government said the need for a lockdown is a subject discussed by the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 and the health authorities based on the spread of the coronavirus.
Cabinet Spokesperson & Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella speaking to reporters said the Government is of the view that area-wise isolations are sufficient.
Rambukwella said the decision may change in the future depending on the situation in the country at that time.
“A decision may be made tomorrow or even this evening. But it will be based on the situation in the country,” said Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
“Sri Lanka will not become another India, which is currently facing a severe crisis due to COVID-19,” he said.
“The people of Sri Lanka are sensible, and we believe they will act in a responsible and sensible manner to prevent the further spread of the virus,” the Minister said.
