Port City bill must be debated extensively: AKD

COLOMBO (News1st): Jathika Jana Balawegaya leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has stressed the need for an extensive parliamentary debate on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill. "...the government and the opposition need to put forward their views before the people," Dissanayake said. He pointed out that the government is conducting itself to fulfil its destructive motives rather than in the best interests of the country's laws, regulations, constitution, the public and ethics. "The government can cite this as a turning point for the country's economy. We can put forward other arguments over this," Dissanayake pointed out. He cited the administration of the area through a Commission, the appointment of foreigners to the Commission, and the loss of voting rights for those residing in that area as some arguments.
