COVID fatalities rise to 687 in Sri Lanka with 09 deaths confirmed on May Day

COLOMBO (News 1st);  The Director General of Health Services confirmed nine deaths caused by Covid-19 virus infection on Saturday (01). The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 687.

01. The deceased is a 65 year old male resident in Karandana. He died on 29.04.2021 while undergoing treatments in Base Hospital Horana. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID 19 Chest infection and Chronic Liver Disease. 02. The deceased is a 72 year old male resident in Awissawella. He was transferred from Kopai Covid Treatment Centre to Teaching Hospital Jaffna where he died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned asacute coronary syndrome with heart failure complicated with COVID 19. 03. The deceased is a 75 year old male resident in Ruwanwella. He was admitted to Base Hospital Wathupitiwala and transferred to Sri Jayawardhanapura General Hospital. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments there and transferred to the Base Hospital Hoamagama where he died on 28.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 04. The deceased is a 66 year old female resident in Dewalagama. She died on 30.04.2021 while undergoing treatments in Base Hospital Homagama. The cause of death is mentioned as Respiratory failure due to in COVID 19 infection. 05. The deceased is a 79 year old male resident in Mawanella. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Base Hospital Warakapola and transferred to the Base Hospital Theldeniya where he died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Sever COVID Pneumonia with the background of sever Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension 06. The deceased is a 33 year old male resident in Yakwila. He was transferred from Ambanpola Covid Treatment Centre to Base Hospital Theldeniya where he died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Sever COVID Pneumonia and acute kidney injury in the background of newly diagnosed Diabetes Mellitus. 07. The deceased is a 57 year old male resident in Walapane. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Base Hospital Rikillagaskada and transferred to the IDH Hospital where he died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID Pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome and Septic shock 08. The deceased is a 68 year old male resident in Rathnapura. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Rathnapura and transferred to the IDH Hospital where he died on 01.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Sepsis with septic shock, COVID Pneumonia, Acute Kidney Injury, Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. 09. The deceased is a 69 year old male resident in Kuliyapitiya. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Kuliyapitiya and transferred to the Teaching hospital Anuradhapura where he died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as, COVID Pneumonia, Kidney Injury and chronic kidney disease.
