President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa issue May Day messages

COLOMBO (News 1st): Issuing a message in line with the International Labour Day, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the labour force is one of the most adversely affected groups in the world due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the Government has clearly understood the reality faced by the working masses in the country, adding that it is working with commitment to ensure better living standards for it citizens without imposing limitations that obstruct the economic activities of the working people, without imposing limitations that obstruct the economic activities of the working place. The Head of State added that the right of the working people was safeguarded by ensuring that all public sector employees were given their total salaries without any deductions and continuing to maintain all public welfare programs amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa extended his wishes for International Labour Day as well. Prime Minister said that he extends his best wishes to all working people with much joy. Rajapaksa said, just like last year, the COVID-19 Pandemic has forced Sri Lankan to celebrate International Labour Day without any rallies or meetings. Adding further, the Prime Minister said, despite the adversities the country face, he would like to remind everyone that the Government has given the working people of the country their due recognition.
