11 COVID-19 Deaths on Friday (30); fatalities rise to 678

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that ELEVEN (11) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Friday (Apr. 30), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 678. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 79-year-old female from Piliyandala. She died on 30.04.2021 on admission to a private hospital in Colombo. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. A 76-year-old male from Dehiattakandiya. He died on 30.04.2021 while receiving treatment at Polonnaruwa General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Severe Heart Failure. 3. A 67-year-old female from Matale. She died on 29.04.2021 while receiving treatment at Matale District General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid Pulmonary Syndrome. 4. An 82-year-old male from Kalutara. He was transferred from Sri Jayawardhanapura General Hospital to the Ingiriya Base Hospital, where he died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 5. A 53-year-old male from Wattala. He was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital and transferred to the Kotalawala Defense University Hospital, where he died on 29.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Respiratory Tract Infection. 6. A 51-year-old male resident in Divulapitiya. He died on 29.04.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Chronic Liver disease complicated with Covid 19 infection. 7. A 77-year-old male from Pepiliyawala. He died on 30.04.2021 while receiving treatment at Wathupitiwala Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Pneumonia with Covid 19 infection. 8. A 64-year-old female from Anuradhapura. She was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and transferred to Nochchiyagama District Hospital; then transferred to the Methsiri COVID Treatment Centre, where she died on 30.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome with COVID-19 infection. 9. A 94-year-old male from Colombo 14. He died on 28.04.2021 at his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 10. A 65-year-old male from Colombo 14. He died on 28.04.2021 on admission to the Kalutara General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Sepsis, COVID-19 infection, and Heart Disease. 11. A 46-year-old female from Kelaniya. She died on 27.04.2021 on admission to the Colombo General Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Acute Respiratory Tract infection Meanwhile, a record 1662 new positive cases were reported on Friday (Apr. 30), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 108,146, the Department of Government Information said. As of Saturday (May 01), there are 11,493 active patients receiving treatment, while 95,975 have recovered.
