COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is preparing to convert quarantine centers to Intermediate Care Centers if hospitals exceed the capacity to treat COVID-19 cases, said Army Commander General Shavendra Silva on Thursday (29).
“We have already earmarked such facilities for the conversion,” he said adding if the facilities are not sufficient, several hotels have been selected to be converted into hospitals.
“This is not a new practice. Over the past few months the Sri Lanka Army obtained one hotel with a capacity of around 700 people in the south of Sri Lanka,” he said.
