COLOMBO (News 1st): If quarantine centres are to be converted to Intermediate Care Centres, the rate of repatriations will have to be restricted, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control said on Thursday (Apr. 29).
According to State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle, a decision was reached to repair and transform a closed-down factory in the Gampaha District, into a treatment center as soon as possible with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy.
“A High Dependency Unit with a capacity of 30 beds will be established at the Minuwangoda Hospital to treat COVID-19 patients with complications, such as breathing difficulties and lung damage, who require high-flow oxygen,” State Minister Dr. Fernandopulle further noted.
