(VIDEO) China to give RMB 50 Mn military assistance to SL: General Wei

COLOMBO (News 1st); China will provide another RMB 50 Million military assistance gratis to Sri Lanka, said China’s Minister of Defence Wei Fenghe when he called on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday (28).

General Fenghe noted that China and Sri Lanka are working hard to promote high-quality cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, there is a great cooperation potential and a brighter future for cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.

He said China will continue to support Sri Lanka in Human Rights and reconciliation while noting that during a meeting with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa it was informed that China will provide another RMB 50 Million military assistance gratis to Sri Lanka.

“Under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Sri Lanka has maintained political stability, social harmony and enjoy steady economic growth,” said the Chinese Defence Minister, adding that the people of Sri Lanka are leading a better and happy life.

“Sri Lanka is enjoying social and economic development and has a promising and vibrant future,” said China’s Minister of Defence Wei Fenghe.

General Wei Fenghe told Prime Minister Rajapaksa that the purpose of his visit is to implement the important consensus bridged between our two heads of state, to strengthen strategic mutual trust, to deepen cooperation, and consolidate friendship.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa had noted that the Chinese Defence Minister’s visit will further strengthen ties between Sri Lanka and China while adding his best wishes for the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Chinese Communist Party.

“Sri Lanka has given priority to attract investments from across the world and Sri Lanka expects China’s support to build investor confidence in the country, ” said the Sri Lankan Prime Minister during bilateral talks with the Chinese Defence Minister.
