(AUDIO) Army Commander clarifies lockdown situation, says no reason to panic

COLOMBO (News 1st); There is no decision to impose a country-wide lockdown, stressed Army Commander General Shavendra Silva on Wednesday (28).

"Some Grama Niladhari Divisions and Police Areas were placed in isolation without prior notice, so people did not have time to gather supplies," he said. "Unlike before when we place an area in isolation by giving prior notice, this time we are compelled to immediately isolate areas in isolation when there is a considerable rise in the number of COVID-19 cases from a particular area," said General Shavendra Silva adding that is why it was announced the people need to be prepared.
