COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's parliament speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena was confronted by a group of angry locals during an inspection tour in Weligama.

The Speaker accompanies by several Ministers, MPs, and Government Officers was inspecting the site for the proposed industrial complex in the Charlie Mount Estate. During the visit, several women employed at the estate protested against the decision to take over the property for the project, citing they will be left unemployed if the project goes ahead. "We voted for the ruling party and campaigned for them. What they are doing to us is unfair," said one woman. The women also rejected the speaker's proposal to obtain employment at the industrial complex once it is completed. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lisXjEyAeoo[/embed]
