COLOMBO (News 1st): Stern action will be taken against those who violate quarantine regulations as per the gazette notification published on 15th October 2020, Sri Lanka Police said on Saturday (Apr. 24). Whilst observing the creation of new COVID-19 sub-clusters and clusters, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said Police are intending to institute strict action against quarantine law-breakers. "It is mandatory for every individual who moves in public places to wear a face mask. Therefore, if the people do not adhere to the face mask concept, we are compelled to take stern action against the law-breakers," the Deputy Police Chief pointed out. Accordingly, all the officers-in-charge of police stations have been instructed to strictly implement the face mask law, while Traffic Police officers have been instructed to look into the situation in respect of public transport services. "Everyone is instructed to adhere to quarantine rules and regulations. Otherwise, Police are compelled to take legal action against them," DIG Ajith Rohana reiterated.
