COLOMBO (News 1st): The 08-member committee headed by Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, appointed to investigate the tense situation which erupted inside the parliamentary chamber on Wednesday (21st of April), will convene next week.
The committee will convene for the first time at 2:00 pm next Wednesday (Apr. 28) in the parliamentary complex, Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya told News 1st on Saturday (Apr. 24).
Future proceedings will be planned after holding discussions with the committee members, adding the final report will be presented to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena as soon as possible, he further noted.
The Speaker appointed the committee to investigate the tense situation in parliament on Wednesday (Apr. 21) and present recommendations to ensure that such incidents do not repeat.
The other members of the committee are Chamal Rajapaksa, Keheliya Rambukwella, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Yapa, Imtiaz Bakeer Marker, R. M. Ranjith Bandara and M. A. Sumanthiran.
