COLOMBO (News1st): Health authorities have rolled out a raft of latest measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, the health ministry said Wednesday. This includes increasing beds in Intensive Care Units, providing high flow oxygen to infected individuals, and providing personal protective gear to healthcare personnel. In a statement, the ministry noted that a plan would be implemented to direct infected individuals to the relevant hospitals based on their level of infection. More hospitals will be chosen at divisional and district levels for the treatment of COVID-19 infected individuals as well, the statement added. Another key measure would be to increase the rate of PCR tests carried out daily up to 15,000. The statement warned that quarantine regulations will be implemented strictly and that the law will be enforced to the fullest against offenders. Separate quarantine regulations will be created for those arriving from overseas, it noted.
