Special security plan for commemorations of April attacks: Police

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police Headquarters has issued a special circular to officers-in-charge of Police stations and all senior officers of territorial divisions, districts, and provinces to provide maximum security in respect of the special masses conducted at places of worship to commemorate the victims of the 2019 April 21st attacks. "The officers-in-charge of police stations have been instructed to consult the reverend fathers or the religious leaders of respective churches, cathedrals, and shrines in order to plan out a security strategy," Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana told News 1st on Tuesday (Apr. 19). Accordingly, senior police officers have been instructed to facilitate this security plan at religious institutions and churches. "Moreover, the senior police officers have been instructed to monitor the security situation directly and officers-in-charge of police stations will arrange all security measures in this regard," the Deputy Police Chief elaborated.
