Second dose of COVID-19 jab to be administered in May

COLOMBO (News 1st): The second dose of the COVID 19 vaccine will be administered starting from 1st of May 2021, the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health said. The second dose of the COVID-19 jab will be first administered to health officials, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, the Chief Epidemiologist told News 1st on Tuesday (Apr. 20). The decision was reached following a meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Communicable Diseases of the Ministry of Health together with the Director-General of Health Services. According to Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, the Ministry of Health is left with around 350,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVISHIELD vaccine.
