Colombo (News 1st); The passage of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill will pave the way for lands in the Colombo Port City to be sold, not leased, warned SLPP MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe on Sunday (18).

In response to a question posed by reporters, Rajapakshe said if the Colombo Port City is 100% owned by the Government of Sri Lanka, there no need to create a provision on the bill for the sale of lands. The MP said that he was ready to face the consequences of his decision to take a contrary view as regards the Chinese project. Rajapakshe went on to note that the government decided to declare the 12th of April a holiday in order to prevent attempts of the bill from being challenged in court.
