Colombo (News 1st); His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith called on the authorities to protect the country and ensure events such as the 2019 April 21st Attacks do not repeat.
Speaking to reporters on Monday (19), the Archbishop of Colombo requested all religious leaders to revive the trust among all communities.
“It will be important for Sri Lanka’s socio-economic progress. If we divided and only aim to promote exclusive identity, will be an obstacle towards development,” said His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith adding a united approach is required to solve issues.
His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said prosecuting a handful of people is not sufficient, in a backdrop where the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the 2019 April 21st Attacks lists out many people and calls for further investigations on them.
“The issue needs to be understood and it needs to be resolved,” he said.
