Colombo (News 1st); The Director General of Health Services confirmed two (02) deaths caused by Covid-19 virus infection on Saturday (17). Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 617.
1. The deceased is a 73 year old female resident in Kelaniya. She died on 16.04.2021 at National Hospital Colombo. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID Pneumonia, Diabetes, Hypertension, TB and Cerebro vascular accident.
2. The deceased is a 71 year old male resident in Kurunegala. He died on 16.04.2021 at a private hospital in Colombo. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, Diabetes and High Hypertension.
253 COVID-19 infections were reported on Saturday (17), said the Department of Government Information.
200 of these infections were from the Peliyagoda Cluster, 04 were from the Prison Cluster and 49 were from among those who returned from overseas.
According to the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) 57 COVID-19 cases were detected from the Colombo DIstrict on Saturday (17) while 33 cases were detected from the Kurunegala District.
