COLOMBO (News 1st): Four people were killed after being struck by lightning in several parts of the island, in a 24-hour window that ended on Friday morning (Apr. 16), Sri Lanka Police said.
According to Police, three victims were killed after being struck by lightning in the Thannimurippu area in Mullaitivu on Thursday afternoon (15), while working in a paddy field.
The victims were residents of the Kumulamunai and Kepapilavu areas.
A 32-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in the Kalawanchikudi area in Batticaloa.
According to Police, the fourth victim was also working in paddy a field when he was struck by lightning.
Meanwhile, six people have been hospitalized after being struck by lightning in the Vandarumulai area in Batticaloa.
Among them are four men and two women.
