COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that FOUR (04) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Thursday (Apr. 15), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 608.

The details of the deceased are as follows:

01. A 62-year-old male from Pannipitiya. He was transferred from Colombo South Teaching Hospital to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital where he died on 12.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID-19 infection with Hepatorenal failure.

02. A 72-year-old female from Ellakkala. She was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus at Wathupitiwala Base Hospital and transferred to Minuwangoda Base Hospital, where she died on 14.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.

03. A 78-year-old male from Kapuliyadda. He was transferred from Marassana District Hospital to Kandy National Hospital, where he died on 15.04.2021. The cause of death was mentioned as Covid pneumonia, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

04. A 34-year-old male from Deniyaya. He was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital and transferred to IDH, where she died on 14.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and Leukemia.

Meanwhile, another 167 new positive cases were reported on Thursday (Apr. 15), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 95,949, the Department of Government Information said.

As of Friday (Apr. 16), there are 3033 active patients receiving treatment, while 92,308 have recovered.
