Colombo (News 1st); Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena was forced to leave the chamber on Wednesday (07) amidst vocal protest by the members of the opposition over the debate scheduled for Thursday (08).
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said the speaker cannot decide on the proceedings of the day, in the morning. The incident took place after MP Lakshman Kiriella raised concerns over the debate on the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Political Victimization, which he claimed was fixed for Thursday and Friday. He alleged the Speaker cannot decide on the day's proceedings on Thursday (08) morning. "We need to be prepared for the debate," said Kiriella. The speaker noted a decision will be made at the party leaders meeting scheduled for Thursday (08) morning and then the debate would be decided. [embed]https://youtu.be/bdieM_oVgso[/embed]
