Palm Oil ban will not ruin confectionery & bakery industry - Bandula

Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka's bakery and confectionery industry will not be ruined simply because of the ban on Palm Oil imports and Palm Cultivation, said Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena on Wednesday (06). 'A special permit will be issued for confectionery & bakery products manufacturers to import palm oil for their production process,' said the Trade Minister. Minister Gunewardena said anyone can direct an appeal to the Finance Secretary to import the necessary palm oil required for their industries. He said there is no reason for anyone to panic over the ban adding the government is working towards uplifting the country's coconut and coconut oil industry while reducing the dollars spent on importing palm oil and provide the required oil for industries.
