COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that TWO (02) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Sunday (Apr. 04), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 581.
The details of the deceased are as follows:
01. A 79-year-old female from Pansiyagama. She died on 02.04.2021 at her residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Ischemic Heart Disease and Covid infection.
02. A 61-year-old male from Moronthota. He died on 18.03.2021 while receiving treatment at Kegalle Teaching Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Congestive Cardiac Failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease complicated by Covid infection.
Meanwhile, another 122 new positive cases were reported on Sunday (Apr. 04), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 93,436, the Department of Government Information said.
As of Monday (Apr. 05), there are 2647 active patients receiving treatment, while 90,208 have recovered.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 4201 people received the COVID-19 jab on Sunday (Apr. 04); so far, 923,954 people have been vaccinated in the country.
