N'Eliya Tragedy: 03 dead in three-wheeler & lorry collision

Colombo (News 1st); Three women died following a collision between a three-wheeler and a lorry in Haggala, Nuwara Eliya on Thursday (01) afternoon.

"A manhunt is underway to arrest lorry driver who had fled the scene," said the Police Spokesperson. DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said the lorry had crashed onto the rear of the three-wheeler that was heading towards Welimada from Nuwara Eliya. The victims were aged 51, 52, and 20 years, said the Police Spokesperson adding initial reports suggest the lorry driver is responsible for the accident. The driver of the three-wheeler is receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya hospital for serious injuries. The Police Spokesperson said the lorry driver had fled the scene after the accident while his assistant was arrested by the Nuwara Eliya Police.
