Postal workers launch trade union action by reporting sick

COLOMBO (News 1st): The postal workers have launched an island-wide trade union action by reporting sick, citing several objections against the decisions reached by the Department of Posts, postal trade unions said. The island-wide trade union action launched at midnight on Tuesday (Mar. 30) will continue till midnight today (Mar. 31), Chinthaka Bandara, the Chairman of Sri Lanka Post and Telecommunication Services Union told News 1st. The trade union action will be staged against the newly adopted recruitment method for new employees in the postal service, among other issues. The Post Master General has issued a statement announcing the cancellation of all leave of postal workers.
