COLOMBO (News1st): Various views have been expressed on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill that was published recently. "It needs to attract a lot of investors and that's when job opportunities will be created and the country will grow economically," ports minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said. Government lawmaker Professor Ranjit Bandara said that a bigger market that Singapore will be created in Port City. "At least 2 million new job opportunities will be created directly and indirectly through this," Bandara noted adding that all businesses in the Port City will operate in line with the Sri Lankan law. Dr. Anil Jayantha, the economic committee chairman of the National Intellectual Organization, said that there is a possibility that a Chinese company might handle matters concerning the Port City. "Dollars will be generated in this territory, and they themselves will take the dollars away," he said.
