Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka's State Minister of Rural Roads and other Infrastructure, Nimal Lanza, verbally clashed with Gampaha District Forest Officer Devani Jayathilake on Tuesday (30) at a meeting on the Negombo Lagoon Development Project.
Devani Jayathilake had completely opposed the program in the lagoon which is taking place while destroying the mangroves ecosystem in the area.
"We are speaking of removing the silt which is polluting the lagoon," argued the State Minister, however, the Forest Officer demanded the mounds of earth that have been piled by destroying mangroves be removed.
