COLOMBO (News1st): Members of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Youth Front visited the Bribery Commission today to inquire into the progress of the complaint filed against the sugar scam.
“It has been six weeks since the initial complaint was filed against the scam that caused losses worth 16 billion rupees to the Sri Lankan economy,” Mayantha Dissanayake, an SJB member said.
He pointed out that Sathosa had faced losses as a result of purchasing sugar at around Rs 114 and selling them at Rs 85.
“As parliamentarians belonging to a party responsible to the people, we are seeking the amount of this loss to be revealed to the public,” Dissanayake said.
