COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Water Supply will conduct a survey regarding drinking water sources in the country, the Subject Minister said. "The Ministry of Water Supply has prepared a long-term plan until 2025 with the aim of providing access to clean drinking water for all citizens in the country. Thereby, in order to reach this target, there is a need to identify the number of clean drinking water sources in the county, recognize the locations, and inquire into the safety and condition of these water sources," Vasudeva Nanayakkara, the Minister of Water Supply told News 1st on Friday (Mar. 19). According to Minister Nanayakkara, a census will be conducted in this regard at the Divisional Secretariat level. Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara pointed out that information is currently being gathered on valuable water sources that are under threat given the massive environmental destruction taking place at forest reserves in the country.
