COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision has been reached to establish Police Special Task Force Camps in areas that are identified as at high risk of deforestation, the Public Security Ministry said.
The Ministry of Public Security has instructed to set up STF camps in the Somawathiya Reserve, Kinniya, and Wanni region as well as other identified areas of the island, a spokesperson for the ministry noted.
The assistance of the Sri Lanka Army will also be sought to minimize the environmental destruction caused by various groups, the Ministry further said.
The Ministry of Public Security noted that all relevant sectors have been informed to take all possible measures in order to curb deforestation.
