COLOMBO (News 1st): Schools in the Western Province re-opened on Monday (Mar. 15) for Grades 05, 11, and 13, the Ministry of Education said.
However, schools in the other provinces, re-opened as usual.
“Schools will re-open with strict adherence to COVID-19 health regulations such as washing hands, maintaining social distances, and recording the temperature,” Prof. Kapila Perera, the Secretary to the Education Ministry told News 1st.
Furthermore, a sick-room is available in every school for any emergency.
Education Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera urged the students to use this opportunity and attend schools whilst adhering to health guidelines.
Commenting on the Grade 05 Scholarship Examination and the GCE Advanced Level Examination this year, the Education Secretary pointed out that a final decision is yet to be made on whether or not to delay the two exams beyond August.
