01 COVID-19 death on Sunday (14); Fatalities rise to 527

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that ONE (01) COVID-19 death was reported in the country on Sunday (Mar. 14), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 527. The deceased is a 73-year-old male from Weligama. He was diagnosed as infected with the COVID-19 virus while receiving treatment at Matara Base Hospital and transferred to Hambantota General Hospital, where he died on 14.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning, multiple organs dysfunction, and Covid pneumonia. Meanwhile, another 142 new positive cases were reported on Sunday (Mar. 14), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 87,907, the Department of Government Information reported. There are 2732 active patients receiving treatment, while 84,648 have recovered.
