SL responds to sale of doormats with national flag

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka has responded to the sale of non-slip doormats bearing the Sri Lanka flag on global e-commerce platform Amazon in recent days. Issuing a statement today, the foreign ministry said that foreign secretary Prof. Jayanath Colambage has brought this matter to the attention of the Chinese Embassy in Colombo. He has also informed the Sri Lankan Embassy in China to contact the Chinese manufacturer of the doormat and instructed the Sri Lanka Embassy in the US to follow up on the matter with Amazon. Chameera Perera, the convener of the United Citizen's Alliance, suspected that the government is trying to divert attention from the bond and sugar scams. "The perpetrators behind the Sugar scam must be revealed to the nation," Perera said.
