NP Power failure due to Technical Fault: CEB

COLOMBO (News 1st): The power failure experienced in the Northern and North Central Provinces last Monday (Mar. 08), was caused due to a technical fault, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said. The cause for the power failure was ascertained following investigations conducted into investigation the power failure that affected the Northern and North-Central provinces the matter with the appointment of a Board of Investigators, Vijitha Herath, the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) told News 1st on Friday (Mar. 12). The power supply in the Northern and North Central Provinces was disrupted last Monday night (Mar. 08) at around 7:00 pm following a technical issue at the Anuradhapura New Grid Sub-station. The power cut lasted for about 02-hours. Several other areas that receive electricity from the Valachchenai, Habarana, Polonnaruwa, and Vavuniya Grid Sub-Stations also experienced the power cut.
