Gotabaya can be in power for 10 years : Shehan

COLOMBO (News1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa can be in power for 10 years, state minister Shehan Semasinghe has said. "He can remain in this position for another eight and a half years," Semasinghe told reporters on Friday. He made these remarks referring to remarks expressed by certain entities suggesting that Basil Rajapaksa would be the next presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, the general secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, insisted that the decision must be made by the constituent parties of the government. "There are about 18 constituent parties. Therefore all these parties that belong to the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandanaya must arrive at a decision on this," Jayasekara said. He drew parallels to the nature of politics changes with the weather.
