Sugar Scam was the result of something done in good faith - Min. Amaraweera

Colombo (News 1st); The reduction import tax on sugar was done in good faith, however, it did not benefit the people and resulted in a loss in tax revenue, admitted Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.

"We must ensure such do not repeat, and the Sugar Scam took place because the tax reduction was not implemented properly," he said.

The Minister said it was revealed that leading racketeers 

benefited

 from the tax reduction as opposed to the government's vision to provide benefits to the people.
