Colombo (News 1st); Kurunegala District Parliamentarian Ashok Abeysinghe was instructed to appear at the Criminal Investigations Department on Tuesday (09), with regard to investigations on a statement made on the 2019 April 21st Attacks.
Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said the MP had commented on the perpetrators of the 2019 April Attacks as well as funding sources of the perpetrators of the suicide attacks.
DIG Ajith Rohana said 06 members of parliament had made a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department on Sunday (07) with respect to the content of the comments made by MP Abeysinghe citing that the comments are false.
“The MP was requested to appear at the CID on Monday (08), however, he failed to appear,” said the DIG adding, therefore, he was noticed by the CID as per Section 109 (06) of the Criminal Procedure Code Act No. 15 of 1979 to appear at the CID on Tuesday (09).
Further, Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi had also filed a complaint with the CID on the same matter on Monday (08) and requested the CID conduct an investigation as well.
