NTC introduce Smart-Cards replacing Road Permits of buses

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Transport Commission (NTC) has taken measures to introduce Smart-Cards replacing the Road Permits issued for Inter-provincial buses, the NTC Chief said. "The process of issuance of Road Permits for buses at the National Transport Commission was digitalized; the new Smart-Cards will be introduced starting today (05)," Commander Nilan Miranda, the Director-General of the National Transport Commission (NTC) told News 1st on Friday (Mar. 05). According to Commander Nilan Miranda, the Smart-Card contains a photograph of the bus owner and other relevant information. Moreover, the Smart-Card could be checked with a digital device and information on the date of registration of the bus, the date of issuance of the Road Permit and the validity period could be retrieved among other information, Commander Miranda further noted.
