COLOMBO (News 1st): Farmers are now provided with insurance facilities for any agricultural crop, the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board said on Wednesday (Mar. 03).
Until recently only six crops, including paddy, were insured; however, at present, facilities have been provided to insure all crops under a concessionary contribution, Attorney-at-Law Premachandra Epa, the Chairman of the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board told News 1st.
According to the Chairman of the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board, the insurance scheme will provide benefits with regard to destructions caused due to floods, droughts and damages due to wildlife as well as various other pests.
Information and advice in this regard can be obtained from all District Offices of the Agriculture and Agrarian Insurance Board, Premachandra Epa, the Chairman of the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board further noted.
