US Ambassador visits the North amidst UNHRC sessions

COLOMBO (News1st): US Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz visited the Northern region of the country today, amidst the ongoing 46th UN Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva. During her visit, the US Ambassador had taken part in the inauguration of a "smart" classroom at the Punthottam Maha Vidyalaya and also attended an event at the University of Jaffna. Ambassador Teplitz had visited the families of disappeared on the sidelines of her visit to the Northern region. Taking to her Twitter handle, the Ambassador said: "A responsible government must respect victims’ families and the recommendations of their own commissions for the sake of healing".
