Colombo (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board Technological Engineers and Superintendent Union (CEBTESU) has opposed the government’s decision to award the Mini-Grid Projects in Northern Sri Lankan islands to China.
In a statement, CEBTESU said there is absolutely no reason to obtain assistance from another country to upgrade the existing electricity generation system which provides less than 01 MW to an island population, which is comparatively low.
The Ceylon Electricity Board Technological Engineers and Superintendent Union said the present administration had produced false documentation to claim the CEB lacks the resources for the said project, and this project is being used for other purposes.
The Ceylon Electricity Board Technological Engineers and Superintendent Union pointed out the CEB already completed similar and upgraded projects, adding local companies are capable of undertaking such projects.
