COVID-19 fatalities in Sri Lanka exceed 400; six deaths on Monday (15)

COLOMBO: The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that six (06) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Monday (Feb. 15), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 403. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 78-year-old male from Divulankadawala. He was transferred from Welikanda Covid Treatment Centre to IDH where he died on 14.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. A 48-year-old female from Pallethalawinna. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Kandy National Hospital to IDH where she died on 14.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning, Covid pneumonia, complicated kidney disease, and damaged kidneys. 03. A 57-year-old male from Hanwella. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from Apeksha Hospital Maharagama to IDH Hospital where he died on 15.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as a cancer and Covid pneumonia. 04. An 80-year-old male from Nugegoda. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus and transferred from a private hospital in Colombo to IDH hospital where he died on 14.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, blood poisoning shock, acute kidney damages, complicated kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure and high levels of lipid in blood. 05. A 68-year-old male from Wattala. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 and transferred from District Hospital Dompe to Base Hospital Homagama where he died on 14.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as blood poisoning shock, Covid pneumonia, complicated kidney disease and acute diabetes. 06. A 70-year-old male from Hunnasgiriya. He died on 14.02.2021 while undergoing treatment at the Kandy National Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, acute kidney disease and heart failure. Meanwhile, another 774 new positive cases were confirmed in the country on Monday (15), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 caseload to 76,428. As of Tuesday (Feb. 16), there are 6614 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 69,411 have recovered.
