07 COVID-19 deaths on Sunday (14); Total fatalities rise to 397

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that seven (07) COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Sunday (Feb. 14), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 397, the Department of Government Information said. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. An 85-year-old male from Gothatuwa. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid at a private hospital in Colombo and transferred to the IDH, where he died on 14.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia, blood posioning and a kidney disease. 02. A 72-year-old female from Angoda. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid at Colombo General Hospital and transferred to the Homgama Base Hospital, where she died on 14.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid shock due to blood poisoning, Covid pneumonia and complex kidney disease. 03. A 65-year-old female from Kurunegala. She was diagnosed as infected with Covid at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and transferred to the Homgama Base Hospital, where she died on 13.02.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as acute Liver failure with Covid 19 virus and blood poisoning. 04. A 60-year-old female from Mahawela. She passed away on 11.02.2021, while receiving treatment at the Matale District Hospital. The Cause of death is mentioned as heart infection, heart failure and Covid pneumonia. 05. An 82-year-old female from Peradeniya. She passed away on 11.02.2021, while receiving treatment at the Theldeniya Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as acute blood poisoning with Covid 19 virus. 06. A 51-year-old female from Gampola. She passed away on 13.02.2021, while receiving treatment at the Theldeniya Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 07. A 79-year-old female from Jaffna. She passed away on 28.01.2021, while receiving treatment at the Theldeniya Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as acute Covid pneumonia. Another 801 new positive cases were confirmed in the country on Sunday (14), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 caseload to 75,654. As of Monday (Feb. 15) there are 6561 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 68,696 have recovered, according to the statistics released by the Epidemiology Unit.
